Chicago
Robert Lewis, Jr. traveled to Chicago, as a guest of the Foundation to be Named Later, Theo and Paul Epstein's family foundation. FTBNL's mission is to raise funds and awareness for non-profit agencies serving disadvantaged youth. The Boston Astros is a longstanding recipient of funding from FTBNL. Now that Theo is the Chicago Cubs President, FTBNL will be supporting similar programs in Chicago. Robert had the opportunity to meet Chicago's Garfield Park Little League Organization, the Chicago recipients of a grant from FTBNL. Robert was excited to see that inner city baseball is thriving in Chicago and that GPLL has a strong leadership team instilling strong values. The Astros' knows that baseball plays an important role in the success of our players on and off the field. New baseball friendships have been formed. Robert looks forward to returning to Chicago with the Boston Astros team to compete in a baseball tournament. Stay tuned for details on Boston vs. Chicago, which will be announced soon.
On May 15th, players and alumni met for some real talk about sports, school, and life in general.
Players shared their goals and brainstormed what they need to achieve them, and alumni encouraged them by sharing what worked for them.
Everyone agreed - the Astros experience is central to the journey to success!
